WhO We ARe...
OVATION YOUTH ORCHESTRA
The Ovation Youth Orchestra (OYO) is part of the Colorado Springs Youth Symphony comprised of intermediate-level middle school and high school students who come together to practice and perform at several venues in Colorado Springs. Ovation musicians begin the season at a multi-day camp in the Colorado mountains where they meet their fellow orchestra members and have an intensive musical experience with their conductor and coaches.
Musicians hone their musical and leadership skills with weekly rehearsals, which include large group rehearsals and sectional rehearsals with professional musicians. Those skills are then highlighted at three or four community concerts and during a national to two to three day tour. Two concerts, the Holiday Pops and the Spring Spectacular, give musicians the opportunity to play in the Pikes Peak Center, a professional-level venue.
WhAT WE DO...
The season starts in late summer with a multi-day camp near Colorado Springs. The camp is designed as a social as well as a musical introduction to the organization. During the school year, we practice weekly at a local Colorado Springs school. Check our Practice Schedule.
We perform in three or four concerts each year, the largest being our Holiday Pops Concert at the Pikes Peak Center. This professional-level venue gives the students an exceptional playing experience and is the highlight of the year.
We play hard both with and without our instruments. We are dedicated to improving ourselves as well as pushing the envelope when it comes to performing. We also participates in an outreach program touring local schools and promoting music education.
